Realizing the need to overcome current challenges on waste management, Waste & Resource Management Summit 2019 during 27th & 28th Nov 2019, IHC - Hyderabad

10th Edition of Waste & Resource Management Summit 2019 : 27 - 28 Nov 2019

India has drawn world's attention with its high paced urbanization and industrialization. A renewed focus on sustainable growth and development has become imperative as India strives to maintain its high GDP growth rate to achieve developed country status by the year 2022. However, the flip side of higher economic growth has resulted in increased consumption of the natural resources, increased waste generation and hence ecological degradation.

With our increasing awareness on detrimental environmental effects of current waste disposal methods, there is a significant onus of accountability for effective waste management.

Realizing the need to overcome current challenges on waste management, CII- Godrej GBC is organizing the 10th Edition of “Waste & Resource Management Summit 2019”

Conference on Alternate Fuel and Raw Material (AFR) : 27 - 28 Nov 2019

CII is working on an initiative to facilitate use of urban & industrial waste as Alternate Fuel & Raw Materials (AFR) in Indian cement industry. Indian Cement industry emitted 137 million tonnes of CO2, which is equal to 7% of India’s total man made emissions and AFR utilization is identified as one of the key lever to reduce carbon emissions in Indian cement industry.

Currently of the 62 million tonnes of MSW generated in India, 80% is disposed through unscientific manner, which leads to health and environmental impacts. Rapid urbanization in India would create higher demand for scientific & sustainable Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) management techniques. The National Mission on Sustainable Habitats has also identified Urban Waste Management as a major component for ecologically sustainable economic development in India. One of the objectives of Swachh Bharat mission is to implement modern and scientific methods for MSW management.

Refused derived fuel (RDF) which is a segregated combustible fractions, produced by pre-processing solid waste from MSW has a potential to use as an alternate fuel in cement plant. This will provide sustainable solution for solid waste management in the country and also support the cement plants & country towards low carbon emissions & conserve natural resources.

As part of this initiative, we are organizing a "Conference on Alternate fuel and Raw material" on 27 & 28 Nov 2019 at HICC, Hyderabad parallel to Waste & Resource Management Summit 2019. The program would focus on following topics, addressing all stake holders of Co-Processing,

  • Panel discussion on latest policy reforms
  • Sustainable solutions for MSW management through Co-processing
  • Latest technology, Systems & Facilities for increasing Thermal substitution rate in cement kiln
  • Case studies from Waste generator & cement plants on co-processing
  • Operational experience and Best practices of pre-processing platforms
  • One to one meetings between waste generators, technology suppliers and users
We are expecting over 100 professionals from the various stake holders of co-processing like Cement Industry, waste generators, technology suppliers and waste management companies to participate in this conference
